What do Member states want from the European Union?

Brussels, 28 April 2016 - Under the coordination of the French Institute of International Relations (Ifri), this unique report presents what all Member states think about the European Union. 

This publication entitled The European Union in the fog is the outcome of an EU-wide project aiming to shed light on each Member state’s motivation to participate in the Union. A timely effort in a challenging period for Europe. Both educational and analytical, this volume is an ideal reference guide for journalists, practitioners, experts, students and citizens. Prof. Gediminas Vitkus represented our Institute.

Screening of a documentary film “Encounter with a Lost Land”

“Encounter with a Lost Land” (62 min.), author Maryse Gargour. The film was made in Lebanon and France in 2013.

Jaffa, a Mediterranean port and one of the oldest cities in the world, is a place where people of many cultures and religions lived together. Through an artful montage of personal letters, diplomatic archives, consular correspondence, audio-visual footage, newspapers and interviews with the children of French diplomats and doctors who lived in Jaffa, filmmaker Maryse Gargour takes us on an encounter with a lost land – Palestine from 1928 to 1952. Archival materials and first-hand testimonies paint a picture of life in Jaffa at a fateful time in the history of the country.

Movie is in French with English subtitles. 

Screening of a movie will take place on Monday, 28 November at 6 pm. at Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University, Vokiečių str. 10, Conference Room 402.

Discussion How Could We Evaluate the Georgian-Lithuanian Relations In the Context of Today‘s Politics of the European Union”

Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University together with Embassy of Georgia in Vilnius, Lithuania and Georgian Institute of Politics in Tbilisi invite you all to a discussion titled “How Could We Evaluate the Georgian-Lithuanian Relations In the Context of Today‘s Politics of the European Union”. The event will take place in two countries, Georgia and Lithuania, at the same time thanks to online communication means. In Lithuania we will gather on 28 th of April 12:30PM (Lithuanian time) at the Institute, Vokiečių str. 10, room 402. Language of the event will be English.

Baltic Media Seminar

On March 12 (Thursday) Embassy of Latvia in Lithuania together with the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University (IIRPS) invite to participate in the Baltic Media Seminar, which will take place at the premises of IIRPS (Vokieciu st. 10, Vilnius) (Room 402), from 9 a.m. to 15:30 p.m. 

The event will consist of three panels, during which the new challenges created by the information war, broadcasting regulation in Baltic states and possibilities of Cooperation in Baltic media space will be discussed. The event is supported and will be opened by H.E. Speaker of the Parliament of Latvia Mrs. Ināra Mūrniece.

Institute of International Relations ant Political Science of Vilnius University together with Embassy of Japan in Vilnius invite to the lecture by professor of Keio University Motohiro Tsuchiya "Japan's Response to Cyber Threats" which will take place September 19 (Monday), 10 a.m., room 402.

This talk will review famous cyber incidents in East Asia and consider possible ways to defend us and to contribute to the peace and security of Asia Pacific region.
