Lecture by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lithuania Bert van der Lingen “12th Presidency of the Netherlands of the Council of the European Union: objectives and the meaning for the process of European politics”

On 8th of March, at 4:45 p.m., in room 304 the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Bert van der Lingen will give a lecture on topic “12th Precidency of the Netherlands of the Council of the European Union: objectives and the meaning for the process of European politics.” During this lecture Ambassador will answer such questions as what is the meaning of changing the lead state and what depends on it? How can we meassure the success of this presidency? He will also discuss previous experiences of the presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Lecture by Palestinian Ambassador Amal Jadou "The Palestinian State: to be or not to be?"

On 18th of February Palestinian Ambassador Amal Jadou will visit the IIRPS and will give the lecture "The Palestinian State: to be or not to be?"

Ambassador Amal Jadou is assistant minister on European Affairs and head of the European Department at the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to this position, she served as the deputy chief of mission in Washington, DC. Ambassador Jadou has also served as the director-general of international affairs for the Office of the President of Palestine, a post she assumed following the 2006 elections. In that capacity, she served as a close aide to the president on international relations.

Lecture will take place 15:00, room 402 (Vokiečių st. 10, 4th floor)

The discussion after the ambasador's lecture will be moderated by dr. Laurynas Jonavičius.

“Self-Determination Processes in the EU”

The Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia (DIPLOCAT) together with the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University invite to the conference “Self-Determination Processes in the EU”.

The event will take place on September 4 at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science (Vokiečių str. 10) conference room 402 (4th floor) 9:00-12:00 am

The conference will be streamed live and can also be followed via Twitter (@ThIsCatalonia and #Cat_Vilnius)

 

The conference will be divided into two parts. The first round table will deal with the current situation in the Catalan self-determination process from a Lithuanian perspective. The second round table will be focused on self-determination movements in Europe.

IIRPS VU invites you to an international conference “Disclosing Invisible Society: Informal And Concealed Social Networks Under Communism”. It will take place on December 5–6, 2014, at IIRPS VU (Room 402), starting from 8.30 a. m. Please see the programme here.

The keynote speech will be delivered by prof. John Skvoretz (Structural Signatures and Hidden Networks:  Statistical Models for Social Networks in Totalitarian Social Orders).

The Conference is organized as a part of the research project “Invisible Society of Soviet-era Lithuania: the Revision of Distinction between Systemic and Non-systemic Social Networks“ funded by the European Social Fund under the Global Grant measure.
