Round-table discussion “One year after Maidan: Lessons and Challenges for Europe and Ukraine”

On March 26th Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University (IIRPS VU) together with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Lithuania and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv invite you to participate in a round-table discussion “One year after Maidan: Lessons and Challenges for Europe and Ukraine”, which will take place at the IIRPS VU (Vokieciu st. 10) Room 402 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Discussion will consist of two sessions during which scholars from Vilnius and Kyiv will debate on the Russian agression towards Ukraine and its impact on Ukraine–EU relations. In the first session lessons learned from ‘hybryd warfare’ in Ukraine will be discussed as well as questions concerning the impact of Russian aggression on Ukraine’s ‘multivector’ foreign policy and the possible options for the EU-Ukraine DCFTA implementation. During the second session scholars will debate on perceptions on Europe in Ukraine, problems of the participation of the Russian Federation in the work of the UN Security Council in the light of Russian aggression against Ukraine and invasion‘s on Crimea and Donbass consistency with the International Law.

Guests such as prof. Valerii Kopiika, dr. Grygorii Perepelytsia, dr. Oleksandr Shnyrkov, dr. Oleksandr Zadorozhnii from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv will participate in the discussion as well as lecturers from the IIRPS VU dr. Erika Leonaitė and dr. Deividas Šlekys. The sessions will be moderated by dr. Laurynas Jonavičius.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Valeryi Zhovtenko and  former ambassador of Lithuania to Ukraine Petras Vaitiekūnas will also participate in the event.
